The Christmas day, all family eat a turkey with cranberries sauce and sprouts. Also nuts, almonds, drink wine and for dessert: Christmas pudding, Christmas cake, Christmas log of chocolate... Before Christmas, people arm a Christmas Tree in their houses. The Christmas Tree has got bobbles, lights and stairs at the top. On the front door they put a holly. Also in Britain they do a Nativity Play and people sing Christmas song or Carols.

Diego Taddia, 2nd A

I' m talking about Christmas in Britain, Christmas is from 24 th December to 1 st January. In Britain the Christmas is different than in Spain because there are different habits.
In Britain they celebrate the Christmas Eve, they have a party with family or friends. At this night Santa Claus brings gifts to all families.
They celebrate Chsistmas Day, on this day, they have a party, too. They eat turkey or seafood. They eat turkey with cramberry sauce. Their traditional dessert is the Christmas Pudding. At Chistmas they eat a Christmas cake and drink Mulled Wine. Also, they celebrate Boxing Day, this day is 26 th December. On 31 st December is New Year they drink and eat.
In December they eat Advent Calendar, it is a calendar, but it's special because its days have chocolates.
They decorate their houses and the Christmas Trees with stars, angels, Santa Claus, boubles, lights. And they put stockings on the Fire Place.
All years there is the Queen Speech.

Laura Pérez, 2nd B

In hte fire there are many red and white stockings. On the Christmas tree there are many baubles of different colours. On the TV Queen Elizabeth in does a speech for many people. The families send Christmas cards to family and friends. On 26th December it is Boxing Day and in Spain is Saint Steve. On 24th December the families have lunch the turkey with cranberry sauce, pudding, cake, etc. The turkey is stuffed with potatoes, sprouts and vegetables. In the houses there is an advent calendar that it has chocolates and pictures, and in the houses there are many lights.

Mariem Sabbar, 2nd A

Christmas in Great Britain is the most popular party. The decorations of Christmas are: the tree, the holly... The Christmas Carols are songs of Christmas that groups of singers sing to his neighbours. Children hang an average at the foot of the chimney or at foot of the bed in order that holy Claus fill them. The gifts for the family are placed under the Christmas Tree. The traditional lunch of Christmas consist of roast turkey goose, or chicken with the landfill and roast potatoes. This is followed by of me nod meat and the podding of Christmas flamed with brandy that must contain coins or other happy gifts for the children. Another traditional fact in the Christmas Day is the message of the Queen to the nation, and his diffusion across the radio and the television.

INFORMATION FROM THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA

A custom that originated in Southern Europe is the Manger Scene, often referred to by its French name, crèche. This is a small model of the stable where Jesus was born, containing figures of Mary, Joseph, the Infant, shepherds, farm animals, and The Three Wise Men and their gifts. The custom of re-creating the Holy Night is said to have been started by St. Francis of Assisi. On Christmas Eve in 1223 he supposedly set up a stable in a corner of a church in the town of Greccio, Italy, with real persons and animals to represent those of the first Christmas.

Sole Sosa, 2nd A from Encyclopaedia Britannica

The first Christmas Card is believed to have been designed in England in 1843 by an artist named John C. Horsley for a friend, Sir Henry Cole. The design showed a family party, beneath which the words "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You" were inscribed. The practice of sending Christmas cards soon became popular in all English-speaking countries and is most widespread in the United States. The first Christmas postage stamp was issued in Denmark in 1904, and other countries later adopted the idea. Christmas pudding is the dessert traditionally served on Christmas day, although still available and popular throughout the year in Britain. It has its origins in England, and is sometimes known as plum pudding, though this can also refer to other kinds of boiled pudding involving a lot of dried fruit.

Edu Ruíz, 2nd A from Encyclopaedia Britannica

The tradition of exchanging Gifts is one of the oldest customs associated with Christmas: it is actually older than the holiday itself. When the date of Christmas was set to fall in December, it was done at least in part to compete with ancient pagan festivals that occurred about the same time. One of those festivals, the Roman New Year—January 1— may have influenced practices associated with the Christian holiday.

Pavi Wally, 2nd A from Encyclopaedia Britannica

Boxing Day is a public holiday in the United Kingdom Canada, New Zelanda and Australia, as well as many others members of the Conmonwealth of Nations and Greece. it is based on the tradition of giving gifts to the lees fortunate members of society contemporary Boxing Day In Canada Is a "shopping holiday" associated with after Christmas sales. Wales, like other constituent nations, enjoys independent representation in major world sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup, Rugby World Cup and in the Commonwealth Games (however as Great Britain in the Olympics). As in New Zealand, rugby is a core part of the national identity, although football has traditionally been more popular sport in the North Wales, possibly due to its close proximity to England's north-west. Wales has its own governing bodies in rugby, the Welsh Rugby Union and in football, the Football Association of Wales (the third oldest in the world) and most other sports. Many of Wales' top athletes, sportsmen and sportswomen train at the Welsh Institute of Sport and National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff, the Wales National Velocipede in Newport and the Wales National Pool in Swansea.
